Hiring: Auction Cataloguer

Gray’s is a boutique auction house in Cleveland, Ohio. We’re a team driven by curiosity, creativity, and a genuine passion for history and art. Every day is an adventure in preserving history and digging into curiosities. We’re looking for an Auction Cataloguer who will play a vital role in researching, cataloging, and valuing property to be sold at auction. We're looking for someone with a generalist knowledge of fine art, furniture, and decorative/cultural objects to contribute their expertise to our team.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Research and identify incoming properties with a keen eye for detail.

  • Accurately catalog and value various properties and complete detailed condition reports.

  • Collaborate with our specialists to vet auction items and ensure their stories are ready to be told.

  • Provide essential support in describing and organizing auction items.

  • Assist in setting up previews and responding to inquiries about our unique pieces.

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of experience in an auction house.

  • Understanding of the auction business.

  • Unwavering attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) to keep our treasures tracked and tales told.

  • A degree in Art, Art History, or Literature—your academic background fuels your passion for art!
