The founders were disappointed, disenchanted, disgusted evenโฆ with the Industrial Revolution. They became the first major critics of the impersonal, mechanized direction society headed towards, and were determined to return to a more simplistic and traditional way of life. The movement gained admiration for its trifecta of great design, utility, and high-quality materials.
