Gray’s is able to offer authentication services for certain works of art. The art work in question will need to be examined in person before being accepted for authentication. The contract for art authentication will need to be signed by the rightful owner and a 50% deposit of the estimated costs will need to be paid before work can begin. Our researchers consult with the appropriate specialists and experts and where necessary travel to allow the art work to be examined in person. Certain scientific analyses may be necessary including, but not limited to X-Ray, infrared, pigment and media testing, and fiber analysis. A written report detailing our research and stating our opinion as to the artist attribution will be presented after completion. In some instances, the report may not be conclusive. Gray’s does not issue, “Certificates of Authenticity”.
